The Division is responsible for evaluation of qualifications through a process of analyzing external qualifications in terms of their country-of-origin contexts and points of difference and/or similarity in relation to local qualifications and contexts. The evaluation process leads to either recognition or non-recognition of the evaluated qualification. Recognition of a qualification facilitates access and progression within education and training and world of work.
The Division carries conducts twin process on the submitted qualification:
- Verification; a process of authenticating the status of awarding body and/or Education and Training Provider and the qualifications offered by them, as well as investigating the authenticity of qualification documentation and verifying that the qualification was awarded an individual.
- Comparability; a process which entails comparing external qualifications with NCQF qualifications, considering the structure and outcomes of qualifications; and locating them within the NCQF.
The Division evaluates qualifications from any country in the world primarily for employment, further studies, and registration with a professional body. However, if required information about qualification cannot be found or obtained, the evaluation shall not be conducted and the applicant or requesting agency is duly notified.
