Framework Development and Maintenance

The Division is responsible for development, review and update of the national credit and Qualifications framework. It also   ensures that NCQF have the flexibility to accommodate changing labor market needs, technologies and workplace environments. This is made possible by the developed Process for Maintenance of the National Credit and Qualifications Framework which ensures that registered qualifications remain current, relevant, and fit for purposes. To achieve all this, the process of framework maintenance comprises three sub-processes, being:

The Division undertakes the following activities:

  • Renewal of registration for registered qualifications - The sub-process for renewal of registered qualifications
  • Amendment of registered qualifications - The subprocess for instances where a need is identified to make amendments to a registered qualification.
  • De-registration of qualifications - The sub-process for removal of registered qualifications from the NCQF because they have become obsolete.
