The Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) informs qualifications developers and other stakeholders that the Authority has implemented the Process for Maintenance of the NCQF, effective 22nd March 2023. According to section 4(2)(d) of the Botswana Qualifications Authority Act, 2013, the Authority is mandated to develop, implement, and maintain an overarching National Credit and Qualifications Framework (NCQF). The Authority has developed the Process for Maintenance of the National Credit and Qualifications Framework. This process is designed to ensure that registered qualifications remain current, relevant, and fit for purpose. To achieve all this, the process of framework maintenance comprises three sub-processes, being:
Renewal of registration for registered qualifications - This sub-process deals with the renewal of the qualifications that are registered on the framework and their 5-year cycle on the framework has elapsed. The renewal process can also be done before the 5-year cycle elapses, provided there is an identified dire need to do so.
Amendment of registered qualifications - This subprocess provides for instances where developers would identify a need to make amendments on a registered qualification.
De-registration of qualifications - This sub-process deals with the removal of registered qualifications from the NCQF because they have become obsolete.
Qualifications developers are requested to acquaint themselves with the requirements of this process as published and ensure that they comply as expected.
The instruments for the processes can be accessed from the BQA website (www.bqa.org.bw).
Developers and other stakeholders may contact the Authority for further information through the Customer Service Office at customerservice@bqa.org.bw and 0800 600 934.
