Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) is taking its mandate closer to communities and stakeholders through a stakeholder engagement outreach programme in Boteti and Chobe Constituencies, aimed at strengthening awareness and understanding of BQA’s policies, standards, procedures and services.
The outreach in Letlhakane commenced on Monday, 10 August 2026, with the BQA team engaging Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Education and Training Providers (ETPs). The engagement provided an opportunity for institutions to receive information on the implementation of the newly approved BQA policies and to share their experiences, views and questions.
The policy rollout includes the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT), Assessment, Part Qualifications, Annual Reporting, Protection of Enrolled Learners, and Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Policies.
On Tuesday, 11 August 2026, BQA continued its stakeholder engagements with Government Departments, Community Trusts and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the Boteti area. The engagement seeks to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders whose work contributes to education, training, skills development and community development. The invitation to the District Commissioner specifically encouraged participation from relevant government departments, NGOs and Community Trusts.
The Authority also took its public education campaign to Letlhakane Main Kgotla, where members of the community were engaged on BQA’s mandate, policies and services. Particular attention was given to Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and other matters relating to education, training and qualifications.
The Kgotla engagement also provided an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about BQA services, including the National Credit and Qualification Framework (NCQF), Registration and Accreditation of Education and Training Providers, Registration of Qualifications, Accreditation of Learning Programmes, Evaluation of Qualifications and other services, while giving the community an opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification and provide feedback.
