Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) engages Student Representative Councils (SRCs) in a consultative workshop on the Protection of Enrolled Learners (PEL) Policy and other key issues regarding the role of learners in quality assurance. The engagement forms part of BQA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen stakeholder participation and enhance the quality assurance framework within Botswana’s education and training sector.
When welcoming the students, Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ofentse Disang emphasised the importance of student involvement in shaping the education system. He noted that learners are not only beneficiaries of the system but also critical stakeholders whose perspectives are essential in developing responsive, inclusive, and effective policies.
Objectives of the Engagement
The workshop aimed to:
Provide a platform for constructive dialogue between BQA and student leadership
Enhance awareness and understanding of the Protection of Enrolled Learners (PEL) Policy
Equip SRCs with knowledge on complaints handling and resolution processes
Strengthen the role of SRCs in supporting quality assurance within institutions
Promote learner participation in safeguarding the quality and integrity of education and training
