Botswana Qualifications Authority and Business Botswana held a consultative meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration and discussing developments within Botswana’s education and training sector, with particular focus on private sector Education and Training Providers (ETPs).

The engagement formed part of ongoing stakeholder consultations intended to create a platform for dialogue on sector developments, operational challenges, and possible mitigation strategies to support quality education and training delivery in Botswana.

During the meeting, BQA Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ofentse Disang highlighted the importance of continuous engagement between regulators and private sector stakeholders in improving the education and training landscape. Discussions focused on issues affecting private sector ETPs, including:

  • Re-accreditation processes for programmes

  • The 2026 enrolment list

  • Change of scope applications

  • Endorsement processes involving professional bodies, including concerns relating to the recognition of some professional bodies and associations

  • Compliance matters affecting education and training providers

The consultative session also provided an opportunity for both institutions to openly discuss sector challenges and explore mitigation strategies aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening compliance, and enhancing communication between stakeholders and the Authority.

BQA further provided updates and clarification on key operational and policy matters, including compliance with approved modes of delivery and programme durations, updates on standards and policies, as well as the discontinuation of legacy learning programmes.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining quality assurance standards while continuing to work closely with stakeholders to support the growth and sustainability of Botswana’s education and training sector.

The meeting underscores the importance of collaborative engagement in ensuring that quality education and training remain central to Botswana’s human capital development agenda.
