BQA Donates Teaching & Learning Materials to Bakgopheng CJSS

Sep 23, 2024

Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) remains committed to playing an active role in promoting quality education across all levels, from General Education to Higher Education and Technical & Vocational Education and Training.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Authority recently donated teaching and learning materials to Bakgopeng Community Junior Secondary School in Lesenepole Village. The Authority believes these materials will go a long way in improving the teaching and learning environment in the school.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, BQA Management representative, Manager for Workforce Management, Mr. Keletso Benjamin highlighted the Authority's dedication to contributing to the growth and development of learners in the country. He stated that as a regulatory Authority, BQA recognises the important role it plays in transforming education. “We believe in creating opportunities for effective learning with the resources we have available. We received your request for assistance with learning materials and despite financial challenges we face, today we are here to show our commitment in assisting the government to transform the education system by ensuring that learners have adequate resources for effective and efficient learning.”

Mr Benjamin further said that the CSR initiative aligns with BQA’s broader goal of ensuring Botswana's education system is competitive on an international scale.

When receiving the donations, Deputy Headmaster of Bakgopheng CJSS, Mr Ontsheletse Pitso, expressed gratitude to BQA for extending such a gesture. He stated that the gifts come at a time when the school are in serious need of support, and that the coming in of BQA is a blessing to the students.

On his part, the Chief, Kgosi Mogomotsi Johannes, encouraged learners to treasure such gratitude from BQA, and to play their part in making sure that they take their education seriously and refrain from bad behaviour.

BQA is currently on a Public Education and Awareness Campaign in the Tswapong and Palapye areas, where the team will engage with learners and teachers in various schools, and the public during mall activations.
